01. Can I get rid of head lice in one treatment?

Yes, our signature lice treatment is a one-session treatment. At The Lice Clinic, we employ effective head lice heat treatments that eliminate 99.2% of lice eggs in a single session. Stray eggs and dead lice might remain in your hair after the treatment, but our professionals will comb it all out. In case of a severe lice condition, we recommend two sessions. You can avail of our head check to determine the exact nature and level of infestation and proceed accordingly.

02. Do I need a follow-up comb out?

For a thorough experience and peace of mind, we recommend you come for a comb out 10 days after the lice treatment. It will effectively clear your hair of any remaining stray eggs and dead lice. Even though they aren’t viable, removing them ensures your hair feels clean and gives you the added assurance that the lice cycle has come to an end.

03. Is the lice treatment safe for pregnant women?

Yes, as our lice treatments are non-toxic, non-invasive and chemical-free, and they are perfectly safe for pregnant women. The main ingredient in our topical rinse is dimethicone, which works by disrupting lice and nits’ water balance and blocking their breathing. Dimethicone is safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Anyone can book our signature lice treatment without any worries or safety concerns.

04. Why is lice treatment not available for children under 4 years?

We don’t offer head lice treatment for children under 4 years, as young children may struggle to remain still for the 25-30-minute session, which is important for us to be able to apply the heat device. Also, while the treatment is entirely safe for all age groups, we use heat and children below 4 years might be unable to tolerate the gentle heat applications and move around hence, affecting the treatment effectiveness. Our team will try our best to assist all families. If the child is able to sit still, we will be able to offer combout and topical rinse application to kids under 4.

05. How is your heat lice treatment better than over-the-counter treatments?

Compared to over-the-counter treatments, our heat lice treatment offers a hassle-free, chemical-free, durable lice control solution.

  • We use a heat device that produces controlled heat to dehydrate lice and their eggs in a single session. We pair it with a topical solution that further suffocates eggs and lice.

  • The over-the-counter treatments readily available in the market are not 100% effective, and applying them to clean your hair can be a hassle. With us, you can just sit back and relax while our professionals care for everything.

  • Our lice treatment guarantees visible results in just one session. Follow it with our comb out and make way for a clean and clean hair and scalp. Over-the-counter treatments don’t guarantee such results.

06. Is lice a sign of poor hygiene?

No, it is only a misconception; lice are not a sign of poor hygiene. The stigma around lice often stems from this misconception but is far from the truth. The fact is lice can infest anyone, regardless of cleanliness and hair length. Lice doesn’t discriminate in that sense.

07. Do lice jump or fly?

No, lice don’t jump or fly; they can only crawl. They are wingless parasites that only spread through direct head-to-head contact or by sharing your caps, scarves, combs, etc., with an infected person.

08. What are some tips to prevent a lice infestation?

From experts who deal with lice infestations daily, here are some proven and recommended lice prevention measures –

  • Protective hairstyles & preventative spray – Keep your hair tied and use protective sprays readily available in the market.

  • Regular head checks & conditioner comb-outs – Do a head check every week to detect the infestation as soon as possible. Use a quality head lice comb with conditioner for a thorough check.

  • Minimise head-to-head contact & avoid sharing personal items like hats, hairbrushes, and bedding with anyone.

09. Do you offer lice control treatments for children between 2 and 4 years old?

At The Lice Clinic, we have treatments for everyone. Children between 2 and 4 years old can go for our express treatment—a thorough comb-out paired with a pesticide-free topical rinse treatment (*2 treatments required, not guaranteed). Our signature treatment breaks the life cycle of lice. In just one treatment, lice will all be gone, and the remaining eggs will not be viable, as they will be dehydrated and won’t hatch. 10. Are store-bought solutions effective against lice?

While selective store-bought lice control solutions may kill some lice, they do not guarantee complete removal. Even if a single lice remains, it will lead to further spread. Also, applying these solutions is not enough; you will have to follow up with a comb-out. That’s why professional treatment is the most recommended option.
